This family was so much fun.
I love that Michelle wanted to include her parents in the session.
We shot at Michelle's parents' house.
I had a hard time keeping my camera still from laughing.
I could feel the love between all of them.
I hope these images will remind them of this time in their lives...
at Grandma and Grandpa's house where they have family dinners and play with trucks.
and maybe a little whiskey now and then.
It was so great to meet this wonderful family.
here are the Johnsons.
I don't even know where to begin with this family.
They are just amazing.
I was lucky enough to be there when they brought Shanbu home from Ethiopia. I shot their arrival at the airport.
They asked me a year later to shoot the arrival of their daughter Kalkidan.
I was in tears for both shoots.
The adoration that I feel for them is indescribable. I don't know if I could do what they did.
I did a back flip when Marina contacted me to do a tree decorating session.
It will be Kali's first Christmas in the U.S.
All of my sessions sit very close to my heart.
But this one bore a hole deep down.
To see these two babies healthy and full of life, really tugged at my heart strings.
here are the Parkers', the handsome fur baby is Brutus.
I got totally lost getting to the Browns session, via Mapquest.
Eric always shames me for using the untrustworthy app and for not using a conventional map.
I'm glad I made it though, it was a simply gorgeous night, the moon was almost full.
I always get told that my boy should have been little girls because they are pretty, I take it as a compliment.
That's the case with Carter as well, he is such a pretty boy.
They are the sweetest family, and their dog was just awesome.
Frankie is considered the second son in the family. ;)
meet the Browns.
I have been photographing Emma since she was 6 months old. It's a great feeling when people continue to love what you do.
I love this family. They are just good people, and I love this session, the location was gorgeous.
It was a really chilly fall day, but the sky was had an awesome moodiness to it.
I hope to continue to photograph Em as she grows, she is such a sweet little girl.
here are the Routtes.
They are such a great family. I loved documenting their "everyday traditions."
they do sparkling grape juice toasts.
they love dance parties...a lot.
they have special books that they read together.
all I could think while I was in their home, was what amazing memories their girls will have of these everyday moments together.
here's a little slice of the Hariga's life.
Allie and I have known each other since our days in Athens, Ohio. We would be out until the wee hours in the morning waiting for my hubs and her boyfriend at the time to finish playing with their bands. Those were the good ole days.
Now our lives are filled with little boys who melt our hearts.
I loved stepping into her home with her beautiful boys .
Oh and her best friend's name is Ali too....crazy. ;)
meet the millers.
"Freeway" kinda stole the show
To be welcomed into a clients' home is an amazing experience, a gift really, for both parties.
I get to use their intimate space as a backdrop and they come out with real life, story moments captured.
That's why I love lifestyle sessions, the honesty of them.
Meet the Peddicords.
This is the time in their life when they brought home little John.
It really didn't hit me how quickly the days turn into years until my third son came along. I loved all the stages of my first two sons, but I was always anxious for the next stage to come. I find myself holding onto every single moment with Adrik. I am totally good with him not being potty trained....ever. Okay, maybe not ever, but i can't imagine not having a baby in diapers. I know, it's ridiculous.
I would give anything to have images like this of my boys, of me, and of my husband all together doing our everyday thing. I have only one image that I took with my tripod of me nursing Adrik, I cherish it. I just didn't think of it at the time.
Linsey and Dustin have two beautiful babies, Mason and now Makenzie. Mason wasn't feeling well at all and the poor guy just wanted his mama, and Mickey. But he still did so well for the camera.
These hazy days with a newborn are so fleeting and to be able to give this gift is unmeasurable.
I love storytelling so much and this is why....
First of all, I have to say that I just adore this little lady's name, Adler. I find it sweet and strong, just like her. Adler is my good friend and fellow art teacher's daughter, Bonnie. Bonnie and Joel have Noah who is 4 and now little Adler. They tried long and hard for this ball of beautifulness. I couldn't be more happy for them and it was a total honor to get to experience this relaxed bundle of sweetness.
meet Adler and Noah
I wonder if there will ever come a time when I am not nervous for a session? I am a nervous wreck walking up to the front door of a complete strangers home. Then the door opens and all of my anxiety is quickly wiped away as they welcome me with warm vibes.
This session was extra nerve wracking for me. Dwight is the principal at the high school in the school district where I teach. I have only been in the same room with him once and his sweet and calm demeanor was intriguing. He is well respected in our community and being a little peon of an art teacher, I felt a little intimidated. All of my fears were completely laid to rest when I stepped into their living room. Samantha is Dwight's wife and she is as sweet as she is absolutely stunningly gorgeous. You get to know your clients skin very well while editing, and hers needed no editing at all, seriously...totally flawless.
Then there's Gabby. Holy moly, talk about a gorgeous baby!! Not only was she gorgeous, but she was cool as a cucumber like her daddy. You would never know that this little miracle had been adopted. What an amazing story. I am such a people watcher and love, love to hear others stories. Gabrielle is going to have an amazing and loving life with her parents.
It was an awesome morning.
Meet the Carters
